Wine storing options
When it comes to storing your wine, you have
several options. A few of these
include cardboard wine cartons, a type of plastic pipe such as PVC
(polyvinyl chloride), and modular wine racks.
An easy and inexpensive way to store your wine is in cardboard wine
cartons.
When storing the boxes, they may be placed on sturdy shelves until you
are
ready to open them. (However, do not stack the boxes on top of each
other.)
Then all you need to do is to cut the top off of the boxes and lay the
bottles on their sides. This type of storage works well when you plan to
use
the wines within a short period of time, such as a maximum of a few months.
By storing your wine in this manner, you avoid unpacking, inventoring
and
stacking the bottles. Another convenience is that the types of wine are
written on the side of the box.
Another inexpensive option for storing your wine is to use plastic pipe
(such as PVC pipe). You may purchase PVC pipe in the plumbing department
of
your local hardware store. You should use both 3-inch and 4-inch
diameter
pipes in order to allow for the different dimensions of various wine
bottles. PVC pipe is usually sold by the foot and is quite inexpensive.
Cut
the pipe into sections which are the length of the wine bottles. Then
obtain
a box- shaped wooden frame, put the bottles in the pipes and stack them
so
that they will stay in place.
One of the simplest ways to store wine is to use fabricated wine racks
and
bins. These racks and bins should be designed to stack and fit together
in
various arrangements. In this way, you are able to store your wine in a
very
organized manner. Modular units are available for the purpose of holding
cases of wine. You may create your own specially designed unit by
selecting
racks made of metal, wood or plastic. These racks provide individual
support
for your bottles, whereas the bins hold the bottles in groups.
Connectors
should be utilized with the units in order to maintain alignment and
stability.
